Nii, esiteks tuleb tunnistada enda rumalust antud teemas ning seepärast küsida nõu targematelt Smile

Probleem selles, et kettaruumi oleks juurde vaja- praegune 80gb win+ubuntu dualboot ei mängi välja kuidagi.

Algandmed on sellised:
Hetkel ketas:
Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 80GB Ultra ATA/100 7200RPM Hard Drive (ST380011A)

Emaplaat:
Epox EP-4PLAI

Küsimused on konkreetsed:
1. Millist kõvaketast peaks otsima üldse- ata/sata/ jne? Kui hetkel on ata siis kas see tähendab, et sobivad kõik ata tüüpi? ehk siis Parallel ATA (ATA/100, ATA133)?

2. Kas uue ketta lisamine süsteemi on niisama lihtne, et juhtmed külge ning korras. Kas toitega ei teki probleeme?

Hind võiks jämedalt alla tuhande raha jääda(mida vähem seda parem muidugi Razz). Täpne maht pole nii oluline. Antud hinna sisse jäävad kuni 320Gb vist.

Kõik sõltub mis sul seal praegu peale ketta veel järgi on... Sellel emmel kaks sata pesa
Mitu seadet sul selle ata otsas on?
kuhu sa ruumi juurde tahad saada- kas linuxile või winile?
jne???
Sata on uuem ja kiirem standard, kuigi emme vist sata2-te ei toeta...

Mina ise ostaks sata ketta, linuxi poolelt vahet erilist ei ole peale selle et ketta tähis on hdx asemel sdx...
Pistad ketta sisse,
terminalis fdisk -l annab sulle teada milliseks linux selle pani kas sda sdb või sdd
teed partatsiooni
formaadid partatsiooni ext3 (ext4 veel ei soovita)
moundid külge vaatad kas töötab
kui töötas ühendad lahti, teed fdiski kirje ja mount -a

vuolaa ja peakski töötama

sata pesa on see "lapik" eks. Ühes on 2 dvd draivi ning teises HDD.

Uus ketas läheb ilmselt tervelt linux. (tüüpiline system+home+swap partiga)
Vana jätaks winni jaoks näiteks. (kindluse mõttes peaks vist ka failidele eraldi parti tegema)

ise soovitaks ka satat ikka

ja minuteada peaks uuemad kernelid ka ata kettad juba märkima kui /dev/sdX

kui tahad sinna kettale panna ainult linuxi, siis peaks vist piisama sellest kui bootimise järjekorras paned selle esimesekd seadmeks ja sealt juba peaks linuxi bootloader oskama hiljem tee ka windowsini juhatada, muud keerulist ei tohiks olla

Nagu pakutud siis emakaardil on tõesti 2 sata pesa. Nii et jääb siis sata kui nii soovitate.

Valida on veel kas 1.5 või 3 Gb/s ning nii 5400 kui 7200rpm. Kas kodukasutajale on neist kiirustest mingit erinevust? Või ikkagi mida kiirem seda parem?

HV lehel on esindatud samsung, western digital, seagate, hitachi... kas millestki peaks kindlasti kaarega mõõda käima?

hda->sda muutus toimus vist üle aasta tagasi juba.

kuidas võtta... mõlemale? plaan on selline, et uuele kettale tervenisti värske ubuntu. andmed ümber tõsta uuele kettale, seejärel vanale kettale format ning tervelt puhas windooz selga.

ma ei ole kindel, kas su emaplaat 3GB/s satat toetab üldse, pead seda emaplaadi dokumentatsioonist uurima, et millist satat see toetab veel

pöörete osas ikka 7200, vahe on märgatav selles osas..

ja tootjatest, omal on üks samsungi ketas läbi läinud küll, aga samas oli see laptopi oma ja vbl polnud ilus 2a jutti 24/7 sees hoida Razz

kindlasti ei tohiks suuremaid probleeme tulla WD ja seagate'ga

Miks mitte siis juba 10000rpm ketas ei tea täpselt aga usun, et pöörlemiskiirus tavaliselt tähtsam kui andmete edastamis kiirus 1,5 vs 3 GB/s kuna arvatavasti pudelikaelaks on ikkagi andmete lugemise kiirus kettalt........

See hda -> sda tekitas mul igast jama gentoos fstabis ja hdparm ka ei töötanud enam ning pidin vastava sätte kernelist manuaalselt välja jätma. Ei tea millele see küll kasulik on.

SATA II ehk siis 3Gb/s kettad tunduvad üldiselt odavamad kui 1.5gb/s. Aga ma ei suuda seda välja peilida praegu kas Epox EP-4PLAI toetab 3gb/s.

Näiteks:
Seagate Momentus 7200.2 ST9160823AS 160GB 7200rpm 8MB SATA 1.5Gb/s 870kr.
Western Digital Caviar WD3200AAKS 320GB 7200rpm 16MB NCQ SATA 3Gb/s 625kr.


edit: kuigi interneti andmeil tundub, et sata II ketas toimib ka sata I mobo peal ainult et lihtsalt 1.5gb/s kiirusel...

Q: will an sata 2 drive work on an sata 1 board?
A: Yes, it will just operate in SATA I mode and with ncq disabled too.

SATA II kettalpeaks olema jumper et SATA I mode panna, vähemalt olen kohanud ühte sellist, kui ei eksi siis oli miski Seagate.

3gb kettad on ka tagurpidi ühilduvad!!!!
10 kettad on head ja kiirusevahe on üpris suur, nagu ka hinnavahe.
Enda viimastel ja töökoha arvutites kõigil 10k rpm kettad süsteemsete ketastena.
vihjena: sata2 ja 10k rpm raid5 massiiv millel 6 ketast- mmmmagus

Sata2 ketastel on reeglina buffer suurem, ketta mis iganes meetodid, materjalid, tarkvara on edasi arenenud, seega mina valiks igal juhul sata2 ketta ja vastavalt sellele kuidas rahakott lubab. Mingit ulme püssi sa sealt niikuinii ei saa...

Western Digital Caviar WD3200AAKS 320GB 7200rpm 16MB NCQ SATA 3Gb/s 650kr.
Arvutimaalimas ilusti kohal ka nii et võib ära tellida. Eks siis küsin edasi kui ketas käes:P
